THE AQUADUCT: MOBILE FILTRATION BICYCLE

The Aquaduct is a bicycle that purifies the water while it is being transported from one place to another. It's a product designed for the developing world, where women typically transport contaminated water and boil it at home, wasting wood and energy along the way. How does this filtration work exactly? A peristaltic pump attached to the pedal crank draws water from a large tank, through a filter, to a smaller clean tank. The clean tank is removable and closed for contamination-free home storage and use. A clutch engages and disengages the drive belt from the pedal crank, enabling the rider to filter the water while travelling or while stationary.
